How to Read Resume Analysis Results

Understand match scores, confirmed requirements, possible gaps, and evidence in a candidate card.

What the resume analysis shows

The analysis helps you understand how closely a candidate’s experience matches the requirements of a specific vacancy.

A candidate card may include:

  • an overall match score;
  • confirmed skills and requirements;
  • possible gaps;
  • an explanation of the result;
  • evidence from the resume;
  • additional questions, if available on your plan.

The system does not rely only on individual keywords. It considers the vacancy description, the candidate’s experience, and the relative importance of different requirements for the role.

Understanding the overall score

The candidate’s overall match score shows how closely the information in the resume matches the role and the requirements you provided.

It is not simply a count of matching words. The score takes into account the context of the vacancy and the importance of different requirements for the job.

At the same time, the score is still the result of an automated analysis. It is not a final hiring recommendation and does not measure motivation, communication style, or cultural fit.

Review the explanation

After checking the score, review which requirements were confirmed and what information supports the result.

Pay attention to:

  • the candidate’s experience;
  • previous job titles;
  • responsibilities;
  • listed skills;
  • tools used;
  • specific work results.

For example, for a Sales Manager, it is useful to distinguish general customer experience from experience with negotiations, CRM systems, and managing deals through to completion.

Evidence from the resume helps explain why the system marked a requirement as confirmed.

Understanding possible gaps

Possible gaps show which requirements were not found in the resume or could not be confirmed clearly enough.

This does not always mean that the candidate lacks the skill. They may not have mentioned it or may have described it using different wording.

If the requirement is important, use this result as a prompt for an additional interview question.

Comparing candidates

The overall score already considers the importance of requirements in the context of the vacancy, so it can be useful for an initial comparison.

However, review the explanation as well. It helps you understand which matches influenced the result and where uncertainty remains.

Check whether the key requirements are supported by relevant experience and which points should be verified further.

Use additional questions

For some candidates, the system may suggest questions to clarify information from the resume.

For example:

What types of customers did you work with, and what role did you play in negotiations?

The availability of this feature depends on your plan.

Before moving to the next stage

Review the original resume before inviting the candidate to an interview or moving forward.

Make sure that confirmed requirements are actually supported by the resume, the candidate’s experience matches the required level, and possible gaps are not simply caused by wording.

Remember that motivation, communication, and workplace behavior cannot be reliably determined from resume text alone.

Returning to your results

After the analysis, you can save a candidate card and add a status, label, or note.

You can return to saved results later within the relevant vacancy. The availability of saved cards, PDF files, exports, and retention periods depends on your plan and data retention rules.

Important

The analysis is a supporting tool for initial selection. It helps structure information faster but does not replace the decision of a recruiter or hiring manager.

Use the score together with the explanation, resume evidence, and interview results.
